Saint Alexandra

Saint Alexandra was the wife of the emperor whose name and life were interconnected to the cruelest persecution of the Christians (303-311 A.D.). He was a mean and violent man and she was a calm, philanthropist and compassionate woman. The violent death of Saint George showed her the path of Christ, openly and against the will of her husband. She declared that his actions were inhuman not suitable to a man wearing a crown and confessed in front of a crowd that she was Christian. The emperor tried to render her confession to a mental disorder however she remained firm at her faith. Diocletian then asked for her imprisonment. Being so compassionate even to her torturer, she pleaded God to take her life in order to avert her husband of the murder accusation. And so it happened. She passed away two days after the death of the Great Martyr George.
