According to tradition, her parents dedicated her to the Temple in Jerusalem at the age of three. Saint Anna met with Saint Joachim from Galilee and after several years of childlessness she had a daughter who was destined to be the Mother of Jesus, the Virgin Mary. A large number of ecclesiastical hymns were created in honor of the mother of the Virgin Mary and the Emperor Justinian dedicated to her name a Church in Constantinople.
