Saint Artemios
Saint Artemios the Great Martyr lived in the mid-4th century. He was educated by his parents according to the Christian faith and was distinguished for his charisma. Saint Constantine appointed him as Duke and Avgoustalios of the city of Alexandria (supreme commander of Egypt). After the death of Saint Constantine and the short succession of the throne by his son Constantios, Ioulianos became the ruler of the empire, known as the Infringer or the apostate. Saint Artemios confronted vigorously the new emperor and did not accept to renounce his Christian faith to keep his privileges and his life. He martyred twice until he was killed by decapitation.
