Saint Boris
Boris A’ known as Boris Michael and Boghoris, was king of Bulgaria and according to historians, one of the greatest people in history. He was baptized Christian in 864 A.D. and was renamed Michael by his godfather, the Emperor Michael III. He Christianized Bulgaria and established it as autonomous exploiting the dispute between the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Papacy. He gave shelter to Saint Cyril and Saint Methodios when they were expelled from Great Moravia, in order to develop the Slavic alphabet and literature. For the Orthodox Church, Saint Boris is considered both Saint and Baptist of Bulgaria, equal among the Apostles and his memory is celebrated on May 2.
