Saint Eugenia
Saint Eugenia, daughter of the prefect of Alexandria, lived in the second half of the 3rd century A.D. She studied Greek and Roman literature. In her quest for knowledge she read the letters of Apostle Paul and felt the meaning of life and hope through the lines of the texts. She refused to marry a Roman officer, got dressed as a man and left in the middle of the night for another city, where she was initiated in catechism, was baptized Christian and received the monastic cloth.. Years later upon her return to Rome she was beheaded for her faith.
