Saint Kyriaki
Saint Kyriaki was the daughter of a childless couple, Dorotheos and Ephsevia whose prayers to have a child were answered by God. Their child was born on a Sunday so they named her Kyriaki. During the Diocletian persecutions, Kyriaki’s parents were imprisoned, tortured and beheaded. Kyriaki was presented to Ilarion, the magistrate of Bithynia who dazzled by her beauty asked her to deny her faith and live a wealthy life. Staying firm to her love for Christ she declared her wish to become a martyr in the name of here Christian faith, her words being "beauty is perishable whereas the power of faith and the spiritual elevation are eternal". She was cruelly tortured and God took her by his side before her decapitation. Her memory is celebrated on July 7.
