Saint Pelagia

The Orthodox Church has to present dozens of women saints who were able to incarnate the assurance of the Lord that "Publicans and prostitutes that live a life against the law of God but repent honestly and truly, can anticipate the kingdom of God, in contrast with others that show obedience only with words while their actions indicate disobedience and faithlessness". Among these women that showed repent is Osia Pelagia. She lived in Antiochia mid of the 3rd century as a prostitute and although her family was rich she was constantly seeking wealth and lived in debauchery. However her path brought her to a gathering of Christians where she heard the speech of Bishop Nonnos, a speech that shook her and led her to paths of repenting and true faith. She gave all her belongings to the poor, she was catechized and baptized and spent the rest of her life in Jerusalem living an ascetic life.
