Saint Timotheos

From his birth to his death he lived within the Orthodox faith and was fortunate to be close to Apostle Pavlos (Paul). He was born in Lystra of Lycaonia, an ancient region of Asia Minor, to a Greek father and Jewish mother. After his father died it is his grandmother Loida who raised him according to the word of the Lord. When Apostle Pavlos visited his area, he met with him, appreciated his zeal and spiritual gifts and took him with him at his second apostolic journey in order to spread together the Gospel message. Saint Apostle Timotheos became a martyr like Apostle Pavlos, by enraged pagans. His body was transferred to Constantinople, at the temple of Saints Apostoli during the reign of Konstantios in 356 A.D.
