One of the most popular icons of the Virgin Mary Child Holding is an inspiration and creation to the painter of the Renaissance and significant hagiographer from Rethymno, Emmanuel Tzanes, representative of the Cretan School. The picture was painted in 1651 and is kept in the Holy Monastery of Hypapanti, in Corfu.
